Verified

After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.                                                                                                    – Acts 1:3

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the most historically verifiable events ever recorded.  Matthew and John wrote in their Gospels about what they had personally seen and heard.  Mark and Luke wrote from first-hand accounts, having likely interviewed the Apostles and others who had been on the scene.  But historians squarely deny the veracity of these First Century documents as if they are so biased as to be complete fantasies.  Conversely, if a biography of Julius Caesar were found, written by one of his friends or advisors during or shortly after his life, those same historians would consider it to be a historical goldmine.

So we must ask the question:  Are the Gospels verifiable historical sources?  Most certainly… because they don’t rely simply on their own testimony, but on the verifiable eyewitness testimonies of many who saw the resurrected Jesus and on verifiable documents that place these people exactly where the Bible says they were at the time.  We can trust the scriptures because they prove themselves to be true over and over again.  God has given us all the proof we need to trust and believe in Christ Jesus as Lord.  What we must answer for ourselves is, “Will I choose to trust in the God who has proven Himself and His love so readily to me?”
